The Indian athletes who took part in the recently concluded Paris Olympics met PM Narendra Modi at the latter’s residence on Friday. The athletes had a fun and insightful exchange with PM Modi, with both parties sharing their views and advices. Bronze medalists PR Sreejesh, Aman Sehrawat, Lakshya Sen were among the contingent that met PM Modi.
PM Modi meets India’s Paris Olympics contingent
PM Modi noted that most of the athletes in India were young and hence there was a long way to go for them. He noted that the Paris Olympics has seen records broken by Indian athletes which will inspire the younger generation. PM Modi gave a shoutout to Manu Bhaker, Neeraj Chopra, the hockey team, Aman Sehrawat, Vinesh Phogat.

PR Sreejesh revealed how the team was heartbroken after their loss in the semi-finals but they buckled up and managed to secure the bronze. When asked by PM Modi about his decision to retire, PR Sreejesh said that it was always on his mind and that he thanked his team from the podium for giving him the best send-off.
Shuttler Lakshya Sen spoke about how the whole team was very disciplined and were not allowed to use their mobile phones throughout the Games.
Wrestler Reetika Hooda told PM Modi that she was heartbroken because of missing out on a medal despite being very close.
