The Karnataka postal department has unveiled special post cards to honour the country’s gold medalists in the recently concluded Paris Paralympics. India finished the event with 29 medals – their highest tally so far in the history of the Games. Indian para-athletes bagged seven gold medals in Paris.
Paris Paralympics gold medalists honoured with special post cards
As per The New Indian Express, the Karnataka postal department has released post cards with pictures of the seven gold medalists in order to honour the country’s heroes. Gold medalists Avani Lekhara, Kumar Nitesh, Sumit Antil, Harvinder Singh, Dharambir Nain, Praveen Kumar and Navdeep Singh have been honoured via this gesture. Along with sketches of the athletes, the cards also feature a symbol of the event in which the medal was secured and the category.
“The unique feature of the cards is that apart from the sketches of the athletes, they have the symbol of the event in which the medal was won as well as the category they participated,” Karnataka chief postmaster General S Rajendra Kumar said as he unveiled the special post cards.
