Indian racing driver Kush Maini emerged as the winner in the FIA Formula 2 Budapest Sprint Race after the FIA disqualified the winner Richard Verschoor. The decision over the disqualification from the results was taken by a committee after the race. By the virtue of a second placed finish, India’s Maini became the winner of the F2 race.
Maini wins as FIA disqualifies winner
As the the findings of the FIA Technical Delegate, the plank on Car #22 had a maximum thickness of 3.7mm at the most rearward scrutineering hole, below the minimum specified thickness in the 2024 FIA Formula 2 Technical Regulations.
The incident was found to be breaching Article 3.4.3 of the Technical Regulations, thereby leading to Verschoor’s disqualification. Maini’s win is also the first time an Indian driver has won a F2 race.
