Last year at the Zagreb Open too, India had a poor performance, with only two medals coming their way, which is a serious concern.

After all the mess that has been going in Indian wrestling for a year, the country has suffered another setback of sorts. At the season opener Zagreb Open 2024, there will be no Indian participation, as the draws were announced on Monday.

The WFI is currently facing a suspension, by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA). This comes after the WFI body which was newly elected, was suspended by the Sports Ministry. The WFI has been blamed for making decisions that violates it’s own constitution.

Now, the day-to-day affairs of the WFI are overlooked by the ad-hoc panel headed by Bhupinder Singh Bajwa. Meanwhile, the exact reason of India’s non-participation at the event is not confirmed, it is certainly a big blow for India’s preparations for Paris 2024.
