Indian women athletes have made India proud on the global stage. In the past few decades, Team India has achieved significant success, with sportswomen playing a major role in these accomplishments.
To date, Indian athletes have participated in 24 Olympic Games and won 35 medals. Eight of these medals have been claimed by seven female athletes.

Women athelete with most Olympic medals
Ace of Indian badminton the only Indian woman to win multiple medals at the Olympics is PV Sindhu, who took home a bronze in the women’s singles competition in Tokyo 2020 and a silver in Rio 2016.
First Women to win Olympic medal
Weightlifter Karnam Malleswari became the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal by securing a bronze at the Sydney 2000 Games.
