Yuki Bhambri is enjoying stellar form alongside Sweden’s Andre Goransson, as the duo qualified for the quarter-finals of the Indian Wells Open in California, United States, on Tuesday. Their latest win came against the second-seeded duo of Harri Heliovaara from Finland and Henry Patten from Great Britain. However, it was far from an easy victory, as they battled hard to secure a 6-2, 5-7, 10-5 win.
What makes this triumph even more interesting, especially for Yuki, is that this is the second time he has defeated the world No. 2 pairing of Heliovaara and Patten.
Yuki Bhambri’s rise in doubles
There is no doubt that Bhambri is clearly solidifying his position as a doubles specialist. He began the year with solid performances, reaching the quarter-finals in Hong Kong and then the semi-finals in Auckland. What brought him into the spotlight was winning his maiden ATP 500 doubles title in Dubai alongside Alexei Popyrin, where, as mentioned, they defeated second seeds Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten in the final. Bhambri has consistently climbed the ranks in doubles, reaching a career-high of World No. 39.
