PV Sindhu

PV Sindhu cemented her place as India’s most successful athlete by claiming her second Olympics medal, thereby becoming the first Indian woman and only the fourth player in Women’s singles badminton to claim two medals at two consecutive Olympic games. However, she could not repeat the trick at the BWF World Tour Finals nor at the World Championships despite reaching the quarterfinals. PV SIndhu’s big-game mentality will need to come to the fore as India looks to eclipse its medal haul in both mega events in 2022.

A Sharath Kamal

India’s highest ranked paddler in the world is still not showing any signs of slowing down. An impressive performance at the Tokyo Olympics was followed up by a historic medal at the Asian Championships. The Padma Shri awardee is currently recuperating from a heel injury but is fully focu20ssed on repeating his 2018 CWG and Asiad heroics.

Lakshya Sen

2021 was the year of Lakshya Sen. It did not start off too well but what an ending it was! Lovlina Borgohain

Lovlina was already an established name but what she did at Tokyo drover her popularity up quite a few notches. And now with the focus firmly on her, the Assam pugilist needs to give her best both for the Worlds trials as well as the multi-discipline events to cement her place as one of the nest Indian boxers.

Kidambi Srikanth

From being a former World No 1, Kidambi Srikanth’s fall was not pretty to watch for a Indian fan. But he seems to have revived his flagging career with a brilliant display at the World Championships in which he won India’s first silver among men shuttlers. 2022 will be all about proving to everybody that he is well and truly back and nothing could signal that more than winning a medal at the big-ticket events for India.

Mirabai Chanu

After a memorable Tokyo Olympics, Mirabai Chanu will be happy with the news that her weight category is going to remain the same in the future. Now Mirabai needs to keep up the momentum and ensure the flow of medals does not stop.

From nowhere, Ravi Dahiya emerged as the latest grappler Indians can be proud of. After a heroic silver, Ravi Dahiya has not been seen on the mat for sometime. But champions always make their presence felt when needed most and with two major events in 2022, India will once again hope that Ravi Dahiya can produce the goods.

With the Words as well as CWG and Asiad in the coming year, Bajrang Punia will be hoping to write his name in the Indian sports history books.

Manpreet Singh

After rekindling the nation’s love affair with the sport of hockey, Manpreet Singh will be aware of the rise in expectations.
