Indian Olympic Association sanctioned 13 medical members to accompany athletes at Paris Olympics

With 35 medals in total, India will look to add more this time at the Paris Olympics 2024.

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) is, for the first time, sending a power-packed medical team to accompany all Indian athletes representing the tricolor at the Paris 2024 Olympics. All credit goes to the Sports Ministry and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) for making this possible. India will look to make a mark at the Olympics and increase the medal tally. And this medical staff and supporting management are nothing but a boon.

CMO Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala will head the medical team

The medical team will be headed by sports injury expert Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala. His team will take care of athletes’ health issues and injury management. Indian Olympic Association have also sanctioned sleep therapists, physiotherapists, nutritionists, and psychologists who will be available 24/7 for Indian athletes. Also, a rehabilitation room has been set up at the Athletes Village for any emergency purposes.

Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala said, “Ever since the sports science team was announced, the first thing we did was start getting to know our athletes. This is crucial in three different aspects, sports medicine, sports nutrition, and mental conditioning. You can’t start at the last minute. The nutritionist, mental conditioning coach, physiotherapist, and sports medicine specialist have been attending different camps to improve accessibility. Knowing our athletes and their conditions better is essential” Chief Medical Officer said. (Told to Sportskeeda)
