The Indian Men’s Hockey team got off to a victorious start in their South Africa tour, with a thumping 4-0 win against France in Cape Town on Monday. Harmanpreet Singh two early strikes coupled with two more goals and rock solid defence paved way for India to romp home to victory over the hosts of the Paris Olympics 2024.

Harmanpreet landed the first blow for France as he found the net in the 13th minute and soon followed it up with another one in the 26th minute. Lalit Upadhyay (42nd) and Hardik Singh (49th) joined the party, scoring two more goals to drown France completely.

Meanwhile, the brilliance of veteran PR Sreejesh and Krishan Pathak ensured that France could not get past them to find a goal. India will now once again face France on January 24 in their second match of the tour. They will then take on South Africa on January 26 and Netherlands on January 28.
