Asian Champions Trophy Hockey: The Indian team clinched their fifth Asian Champions Trophy title by edging out a determined China 1-0 on Tuesday. Jugraj Singh earned the crucial goal in the 51st minute, securing the victory for India, who faced a tough challenge from China in the final. The two teams had previously met in the tournament’s opening match, where India had emerged victorious with a 3-0 scoreline. Despite being the favourites, Harmanpreet Singh and his team had to battle hard, as the hosts were unwilling to surrender easily. No goals came in the first quarter. In fact, similar was the situation at the end of the second quarter. Unfortunately, no goals came in the third quarter as well. Come the fourth, Jugraj Singh opened the scoring for India. That goal was enough to give India the fifth Asian Champions Trophy hockey trophy.
In the 3/4th classification match, Pakistan beat Korea 5-2. On Monday, the Pakistanis were handed a shock defeat by China, where they lost in the penalty shoot out.
