India Open 2025: Lakshya Sen to face Chinese test, Rajawat in trouble, Prannoy back after 6 months

India Open 2025 draws are out, and it promises thrilling action as Lakshya Sen faces a tough Chinese challenge while HS Prannoy returns after six months of injury setbacks.

The India Open 2025 is going to be an exciting contest as India will be hosting its first badminton tournament of the year, and now the draws are already out. Players are all set to start their year with a new hope. In the men’s singles, Lakshya Sen, Priyanshu Rajawat, and HS Prannoy will be representing India; they are placed in the main draw. While senior player Kidambi Srikant is staying in the reserves. It will be a very hard contest for all three players, as they will be facing some top seeds in the tournament. 

Lakshya Sen’s Chinese challenge

Lakshya Sen has shown some promise after playing remarkably well in the Paris Olympics; he has reached to the level where no Indian could in the tournament. After showing a tough fight, this will be a new start for the player to prepare for the LA 2028 Olympics and, most importantly, the BWF Finals tour. In the India Open, Lakshya will be facing China’s 20th-ranked Hong Yang Weng. The Chinese player is currently in good form; he won the China Open and then reached the quarterfinals of the Denmark Open. However, 12th-ranked Lakshya Sen will be having it easy, as he will also have some good support from the crowd at home. But he must be aware that he’s weak against Chinese opponents, like currently, Lu Guangzhou defeated him in the round of 32 in the Denmark Open. Similarly, he faced defeat against Shi Yuqi in the Asian championships.
