Saina Nehwal is through to the second round. She was pushed to the distance in the opening game by Tereza Svabikova that she won 22-20 but her opponent withdraw due to an injury. The Czech Republic player in the second game was forced to pull out.

The two players took on each other toe to toe but Nehwal held her cool to clinch the first set in the dying moments of the game. World Championships bronze medallist Lakshya Sen cruised past into the second round of the ongoing India Open, which is part of the BWF World Tour 500 tournament series, at the KD Jadhav Indoor Hall on Wednesday.

The Indian shuttler was pushed to the distance in the opening game by Adham Hatem Elgamal but he emerged victorious by 21-15. The Egyptian player in the second game proved no match for the third-seed as the 20-year-old closed the match in just 25 minutes by winning 21-7.

HS Prannoy eased past into the next round after putting a strong performance in the second half of the opener and the second game. The eighth-seed Indian defeated Spanish veteran Pablo Abian by 21-14, 21-7 in 33 minutes.

Indian  Open LIVE- Doubles matches

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will be in action, as they will face another Indian pairing in Ravi and Chirag Arora in the opening round of the tournament. There is a lot of hope on the Satwiksairaj-Chirag duo to perform at their best and finish on the top of the podium. They are the third seeds in the event and will look to justify that with their performances.

Similarly, hopes will be pinned on Ashwini Ponappa and N Sikki Reddy as they will take the court on Day 2. The star Indian pairing in women’s doubles will take on another Indian pairing of Janani Ananthakumar and Divya R. Balasubramanian. Ponappa and Reddy are the second seeds in this tournament and the Indian badminton fans are hoping to see them achieve great heights in the India Open.
