India Men’s Archery Team crashes out of quarterfinals at Paris Olympics

The defeat is a bitter pill to swallow for the Indian archers, but they will have the opportunity to redeem themselves in the upcoming competitions.

India’s men’s archery team suffered a disappointing defeat in the quarterfinals, bowing out of the Paris Olympics. The team, comprising Tarundeep Rai, Dhiraj Bommadevara, and Pravin Jadhav, faced a tough challenge and were unable to progress to the semifinals.

The Indians suffered a 2-6 defeat against world-class Turkey.

Olympics heartbreak for Indian Archery

Despite a strong record at the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games, with 19 and eight medals respectively, including three Asiad golds and two CWG golds, an Olympic medal has eluded the Indian archers.

The trio of Dhiraj Bommadevara, Tarundeep Rai, and Pravin Jadhav secured a promising third place in the ranking round with a score of 2013 points, earning a direct qualification to the Olympics quarterfinals. South Korea topped the rankings, followed by France and China.

But Turkey with their world-class archery effort made sure India do not enter semi-final.

Indian Archery: Another setback

The result is a setback for Indian archery, which was hoping to end its medal drought at the Olympics. The team will now focus on the individual events, where they will aim to secure medals.

The defeat is a bitter pill to swallow for the Indian archers, but they will have the opportunity to redeem themselves in the upcoming competitions.
