Indian boxing star Lovlina Borgohain capped off her Grand Prix 2024 campaign with a silver medal, further boosting her confidence as she gears up for the upcoming Paris Olympics.
Close finish in Round Robin
Lovlina Borgohain, who had already secured her Olympic berth, participated in the round-robin format based – The Grand Prix Usti nad Labem tournament, organized by World Boxing, held in the Czech Republic.
After a hard-fought battle, Indian boxing star fell short of gold, losing 2-3 to China’s Li Qian in their final encounter.
Lovlina Borgohain campaign
Lovlina Borgohain’s Grand Prix journey was a tale of contrasting results. She started strong, winning her first bout 3-2 against England’s Chantal Reid.
However, she faced a setback in her second fight, losing 0-5 to Cindy Ngamba of the Olympic Refuge Team.
Lovlina Borgohain vs Li Qian
Li Qian, Borgohain’s final opponent, was a seasoned boxer with two Olympic medals and three World Championship titles under her belt, including a gold.
This wasn’t the first time Borgohain faced Qian – she previously lost to her in the Asian Games final.
