India beat Chinese Taipei to start Billie Jean King Cup campaign on good note, Ankita Raina flops

India defeated Chinese Taipei 2-1 to start off their campaign in the Billy Jean King Cup in China, with Ankita Raina handing the rivals their only win

India defeated Chinese Taipei 2-1 to start off their campaign in the Billie Jean King Cup in China. In the single match-ups, Rutuja Bhosale defeated Hao Ching Chan 6-3,6-2. Ankita Raina, however, lost in the matchup against En Shuo Liang.

In the doubles, the team of Ankita Raina and Prarthana Thombare took down Hao Ching Chan & En Shuo Liang with a score of 4-6, 6-1, 15-13. Ankita’s singles loss was the only win that the Chinese Taipei team managed to get.

India will next take on South Korea and then New Zealand to finish the group stage. The games will be played in a best of three format which includes two singles and a doubles match.

Defending champions Canada, 2023, Italy, hosts Spain and wild card entrant Czechia will be joined by the eight winners from the April’s qualifiers.
