India at Tokyo Paralympics Day 10: After Avani Lekhara became the first Indian Paralympian to clinch multiple medals in a single Game with a bronze in the Women’s 50m Rifle 3P SH1 Final, Harvinder Singh in archery also scripted history. The 19-year-old shooter had earlier won the gold medal and added a bronze medal to her kitty. She is the first and only after Joginder Singh Bedi to win multiple medals at a single Paralympics campaign after Bedi won three in the 1984 Games. Furthermore, Harvinder Singh created history, bagging a bronze medal in recurve archery.

Praveen Kumar clinched yet another medal for India at the Tokyo Paralympics. The 18-year-old set a new Asian record of 2.07m in Men’s High Jump T64 and bagged the Silver medal, taking India’s tally to 11 medals in Tokyo.

India at Tokyo Paralympics Day 10: – Day 10 has been a monumental day for India shuttlers as Suyash Yathiraj and Tarun Dhillon clinched their berth in the semi-final, and are just a solitary win away from adding to India’s medal tally.

Meanwhile, ace Indian archer Harvinder Singh stormed into the semi-final of men’s individual recurve at the ongoing Tokyo Paralympics on Friday. Harvinder defeated Germany’s Maik Szarszewski by 6-2 in the quarter-finals at the Yumenoshima Final Field. The Indian started the match on a great note as he clinched the first set by aiming 8, 9, 8 to which the German replied with a poor 8, 6, 7. Harvinder carried the momentum in the second set as he grabbed yet another 2 points. In the third set, Maik Szarszewski pegged one back against Harvinder, as he took the set by 28-25.

In the fourth set, Harvinder kept his nerves as he clinched the set rather easily to earn sure shot participation in a medal match. Earlier in the round of 16, Harvinder defeated Bato Tsydendorzhiev 6-5, winning the match by the finest of margins in the shoot-out.

In another match, Vivek Chikara lost to David Phillips in the round of 16. The Great Britain archer defeated Vivek by 7-3 in five sets.

The Great Britain archer defeated Vivek by 7-3 in five sets at Yumenoshima Final Field. The Indian archer lost the first set before clinching a point in the second as he drew it by 25 points. Vivek came back strongly in third as he bagged two points to equalise the match. In fourth, the Briton aimed 9, 10, 10 as Chikara aimed a poor 8, 9, 5.

India at Tokyo Paralympics Day 10: All eyes will be on Gold medalist Avani Lekhara as India will start its proceeding on Day 10 at Tokyo Paralympics. India will play as many as three events: Swimming, Shooting and Athletics. The likes of Suyash Jadhav, Niranjan Mukundan will participate in the Butterfly event. Tek Chand and Soman Rana will be in action in the javelin throw and shot-put event. Soman Rana will participate in Women’s Club Throw. Meanwhile, Deepak Saini will take part in the Shooting.

50m Butterfly S7 – Suyash Jadhav, Niranjan Mukundan

Suyash Jadhav will look to improve his record at Paralympic Games after he got disqualified in the Men’s 100m breaststroke on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Para-swimmer Niranjan Mukundan, who will represent India in the upcoming Tokyo Paralympics, was confident of putting a good show in his debut Games. The Indian swimmer, who got to know about his participation just four days ago, will compete in the 50 m butterfly event. “It’s every athletes’ dream to be a part of Olympics or Paralympics. It has also been my dream and it’s a big dream come true. And I have no words,” Mukundan told ANI.

“I got the confirmation four days ago. I will be participating in the 50 m butterfly and I am looking forward to it. This is my debut Paralympics and I am pretty sure many more to come.

“I’m confident of putting on a good show. It’s a proud moment for me to wear the tricolours. I have worn the tricolours on every big stage except the Paralympics. This being my debut it’s a great feeling,” he added.

Indian shooter Avani Lekhara created history by winning the gold medal at Asaka Shooting Range in the women’s R2 — 10m Air Rifle standing SH1 event on Monday. Avani finished with a Paralympic Record and in-process equalled the World Record with 249.6 points.

India’s ace shot putter Tek Chand finished 8th in the men’s seated shot put final (F55) in the ongoing Tokyo Paralympics on Friday. He managed the best of 9.04m on the night which was simply just not up to the mark to land the Indian in the medal position.
