India at Paris Paralympics: Day 11 schedule, Pooja to compete for medal, closing ceremony details

India's final day at the Paris Paralympics includes Pooja Ojha's participation in the Women's Kayak 200m KL1 semifinals and the closing ceremony later the night.

It comes to an end now, the 2024 Paris Paralympics will officially conclude on Sunday, September 10.On the final day of the grand event, India will have just one event left, where Pooja Ojha will compete in the Women’s Kayak Single 200m KL1 category.

The final day’s events will wrap up by 7 PM, followed by the grand closing ceremony at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, starting at 11:30 PM. Harvinder Singh and Preethi Pal, both accomplished athletes, have been named as India’s flag bearers. Harvinder made history by winning India’s first-ever Paralympic gold in archery, while Preethi is a double medallist at the Paris Paralympics.

Pooja Ojha’s Medal Challenge

Pooja Ojha faces a tough challenge in her quest for a medal, having finished last in her heats with a time of 1:16.09. Despite the setback, she will participate in the semifinals, which offer a second chance for para-athletes who didn’t qualify for the finals in the initial heats. Ojha, who previously won silver at the World Championships in a non-Olympic category, will aim to improve her timing and secure a better finish.

India’s Impressive medal haul at Paris Paralympics 2024

India has had a remarkable performance at the Paris Paralympics, securing a total of 27 medals till the writing of this article, including 6 gold, 9 silver, and 12 bronze. This achievement has already surpassed India’s medal tally from the Tokyo Paralympics, and the nation now aims to reach the 30-medal mark before the conclusion of the games.
