Haryana on top, while few states are still lagging

Haryana has produced numerous top-class athletes, with Neeraj Chopra being a prime example. Chopra mesmerized everyone with his golden arm as javelin thrower clinched the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He became the first Indian track and field athlete to win a gold medal at the Olympics. Apart from Neeraj, Kiran Pahal, who will represent India in the women’s 400m and 4x400m relay, and wrestler Vinesh Phogat are also from Haryana.

In contrast, states such as Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, and Assam are still facing challenges in developing many athletes. It will be interesting to see, with all the top-class contingent, how many medals India can clinch at the Paris Olympics in 2024.
