After a decent performance at the Paris Olympics, Indian sports action is back with a bang. Players in various sports are competing this week in different events. From badminton to athletics, find out all the major events in which Indian athletes are participating.
Badminton
The Japan Open is currently underway in Yokohama, Kanagawa. It started on 20th August and will run until 25th August 2024. In men’s singles, S.K. Karunakaran is the only Indian player remaining in the race, as the others were eliminated on the first and second days.
Wrestling
India will be represented at the U17 World Championship in Amman, Jordan. Competitors from India include Shivam, Harsh, Kartik, Jaiveer Singh, Sitender, Sagar, Nishant Ruhil, Vevik, Sunny, Jaspooran Singh, Raj Bala, Aditi Kumari, Shrutika Patil, Neha, Muskan, Pulkit, Kajal, Mansi Lather, Ashok Kamble, Bikash Kacchap, Sainath Pardhi, Samarth Mhakave, Gaurav, Anuj, Kumar Sachoin, Nishant Phogat, Lucky, and Ronak.
Tennis
The US Open is taking place in the USA from 19th August to 9th September 2024. Additionally, the ATP 250 Winston-Salem Open is also ongoing in the USA until 24th August. India has no representation in the US Open, and the sole Indian competitor in the ATP 250, Sumit Nagal, has already been eliminated.
Handball
The IHT Women’s Youth (U18) World Championship is being held in Chuchou, China, from 14th to 25th August.
Cycling
The Junior World Track Cycling Championship is taking place in China and will continue until 25th August.
Golf
The AIG Women’s Open is being held at the Old Course in St Andrews, Scotland. Additionally, the Danish Golf Championship will run from 22nd to 25th August 2024.
Athletics
The Diamond League is taking place in Switzerland on 22nd August. This will be the final Diamond League event of the season. India’s golden boy, Neeraj Chopra, will compete in this league. On 25th August, the Silesia Diamond League will be held in Chorzów, Poland.
