HS Prannoy & Lakshya Sen could face-off in pre-quarters, PV Sindhu handed easy group for Paris Olympics

The men's doubles draw for Paris Olympics 2024 is yet to be announced, but HS Prannoy and PV SIndhu have been handed easy draws.

The badminton draw for the Paris Olympics 2024 is finally out, and that means, the opponents for the Indian shuttlers have also emerged. In the men’s singles, HS Prannoy and Lakshya Sen would lead the Indian charge, followed by PV Sindhu in the women’s singles, Satwik/Chirag in the men’s doubles and Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto in the women’s doubles.

Paris Olympics 2024 Badminton Draws

Starting with men’s singles, Prannoy is seeded 13th and is drawn in Group K with Le Duc Path of Vietnam and Fabian Roth of Germany. Lakshya Sen has gone unseeded in Group L, and is put up with Jonathan Christie of Indonesia and Kevin Cordon of Guatemala. But if the duo manage to reach the next rounds, then we might witness Prannoy vs Lakshya.

PV Sindhu Handed Easy Draw

India’s double Olympic medalist PV Sindhu is drawn in Group M along with Kristan Kubba of Estonia and Fatimah Abdul Razzaq of Maldives. She is seeded 10th overall in the women’s singles category. Meanwhile, things will get tough for her from pre-quarters, where she will be up against He Bing Joa of China, and then Chen Yu Fei in the quarters.

In women’s doubles, Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto will be in Group C along with Japanese team of Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida. The other teams are Korean pair Kim So Yeong and Kong Hee Yong and Australian pair Setyana Mapasa and Angela Yu.

The men’s doubles draw is not yet out though. But the team of Satwik/Chirag have been seeded third for now. They are the best medal contenders for a medal in badminton for India. The badminton competition at Paris Olympics 2024 starts on July 27 and ends on August 5.
