Hockey India lodges official complaint over umpiring standards at Paris Olympics

The Indian Hockey has called for a comprehensive review of these matters to safeguard the integrity of the sport and ensure fair play in future matches.

Hockey India has formally lodged a complaint regarding the officiating standards at the ongoing Paris Olympics. The governing body has pointed out several instances of questionable decision-making, particularly during the crucial quarter-final match against Great Britain.

Key areas of concern include inconsistent video umpire reviews, alleged coaching of a goalkeeper from behind the goalpost during the shootout, and the use of a video tablet by a goalkeeper during the same. These incidents, Hockey India believes, have cast a shadow over the fairness of the competition and eroded trust in the officiating process.
