Puneri Paltan were off to a bright start with raiders Aslam Inamdar and Mohit Goyat picking up points right from the word go. Paltan were leading initially but the match took a turnaround when Gujarat Giants’ Ajay Kumar picked up a super raid that got three Puneri Paltan men out, helping Gujarat take the lead. From then on, Gujarat dominated the proceedings in the first-half. They inflicted the first all-out in the match in the ninth-minute of the game. The scores at that time read 11-8. By the end of the half-time, Gujarat had a five-point lead with the score 21-16.
However, Puneri Paltan came back in the second-half and put pressure on Gujarat. Pune’s raiders Mohit Goyat and Aslam Inamdar were relentless and picked up points to reduce the deficit. As the game approached the final quarter, Puneri Paltan fought back and inflicted an all-out on Gujarat Giants to get back the lead. However Aslam Inamdar was self-out soon and that allowed Gujarat to comeback into the game. Ajay Kumar then earned a touch point off Abinesh and that made the score 27-27 with five minutes left on the clock.
Mohit Goyat completed a super raid soon but still both the teams continued to acculmulate points and the game became very interesting. When Gujarat were trailing 29-28, Gujarat’s Rakesh got a touch point off Mohit Goyat, who went for the ankle hold, and then made it past Abinesh Nadarajan’s dash to put Giants ahead at 30-29. But it did not last long as Aslam Inamdar scored a crucial raid point and Vishal Bharadwaj tackled Rakesh successfully to take a 31-30 lead.
With eight second remaining in the clock, Ajay Kumar went into raid and he had to take a point to atleast save Gujarat from losing the contest. A foul from Aslam Inamdar who unsuccessfully attempted an ankle-hold only to gift Ajay a touch point in the end, helped Gujarat tie the contest and take three points.
