Ace Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has his next target locked & loaded after winning the silver medal in the Paris Olympics. The Tokyo Olympics gold medalist fell short of Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem in winning the gold medal for the second consecutive time. After his victory, Neeraj Chopra promised to keep the Indian flag flying high and vowed to better his performances.
Paris Olympics done, what’s next for Neeraj Chopra
“Before the LA 2028 Olympics, there are other competitions along with the World Championship. I will prepare for them. I want to increase the distance (of my throws). Medal comes and goes but I want to focus on keeping myself fit and increasing the distance,” Neeraj Chopra said.
Neeraj added that he felt proud every time the Tricolour rested on his shoulders and added that he would continue to ensure that the flag is flying high always.
Neeraj Chopra misses out on gold at Paris Olympics
The javelin star has competed in 16 events since the last Olympics (Tokyo) and finished first in nine and second in the remaining seven. Yesterday, he finished second despite throwing a season-best 89.45m but Neeraj was outdone by an Olympic record throw by Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem of 92.97m.
Neeraj was basically penciled in to defend his gold, but no one, including Arshad, would have thought that he’d easily go past the previous Olympic record of 90.57m set by Andreas Thorkildsen at the 2008 Beijing Games.
