With just two days left for the Paris Paralympics 2024 begin, India have sent 84 athletes to compete for major medals. In the last edition, India won 19 medals at the Tokyo Paralympics—five gold, eight silver, and six bronze.
That year marked India’s most successful Paralympic campaign, with five gold medals won by Avani Lekhara, Sumit Antil, Manish Narwal, Pramod Bhagat, and Krishna Nagar.

India has won 31 medals total in 12 editions, consisting of 9 gold, 12 silver, and 10 bronze. When Murlikant Petkar won gold at the 1972 Games in Heidelberg, he became the first Indian to win a medal at the Paralympics. The only Indian to win two gold medals in Paralympics is Devendra Jhajharia.
