  • Rafael Nadal won his last grand slam at the Australian Open 2021 by defeating World No.2 Daniil Medvedev in 5 set epic that lasted 5 hours and 24 minutes.
  • Nadal could face World No.1 Novak Djokovic in the Madrid Open/ Roland Garros who had defeated him in the semifinals of the French Open last year.
  • The Spaniard is ahead of Roger Federer & Djokovic in the race for most grand slam titles.
  • Nadal, who last won the French Open in 2020, can further increase his lead to 22 grand slams if the King of Clay reignites his magic once again.

With just three weeks left for the French Open, Nadal stays hopeful to recover ahead of his favourite tournament.

“I trust that the daily training will help me to get ready. Here [in Madrid, at an altitude of 657 metres] the demand is maximum, but what can be done is going to be done. The most important thing is to be healthy, but I think that going to Paris I’m on time. Three weeks are enough to get competitive,” Nadal concluded.
