Mayweather gave his opinion on Naoya Inoue’s win over Stephen Fulton, degrading the latter’s ability as a ‘heavy puncher’. TBT also looked back at Nonito Donaire’s first scrap against Naoya Inoue to analyze The Monster’s current scenario.

Mayweather said, “Even though he got the victory over Stephen Fulton, Fulton is not a heavy puncher… Nonito Donaire was giving him fits in the first fight. If I’m not mistaken, Donaire was close to 40, so he should’ve knocked him out in the first fight…”

“What I need Inoue to do is to come fight in the USA, random blood and urine testing. I think he’s a helluva fighter. He takes a lot of stuff from my playbook. But it’s okay, you’re supposed to take from the greats. I would like to see him fight Gervonta Davis at a catchweight.”

Gervonta Davis is fresh off a knockout win over Ryan Garcia and is currently one of the biggest names in boxing. Davis’ KO power is on the rise. That said, Naoya Inoue appears to share a similar image in the eyes of boxing fans.

29-0 as a professional, Gervonta Davis has 27 Knockouts. Meanwhile, Naoya Inoue holds 22 KOs in a 25-0 record. They are undoubtedly two elite undefeated knockout punchers with world titles on their waists.

While Davis still seems associated with the Mayweather Promotions and Inoue is with Bob Arum’s Top Rank, it remains to be seen whether the undefeated fighters can materialize their fight.

A three-division world champion, Davis’ lighting knockouts have impressed several boxing fans. But P4P list-makers don’t see to see Davis as capable of making it in their slot.

‘TMT’ told, “When is Gervonta Davis going to go in the pound-for-pound list? Does Naoya Inoue deserve it? Absolutely. Does Terence Crawford? Absolutely. But what about Gervonta Davis? [They don’t give him that credit] because he was affiliated with me.”

Gervonta Davis hasn’t announced his comeback yet. It will be intriguing t see who ‘Tank’ competes next.
