Carlos Yulo, who initially became a household name in the Philippines after winning two medals, one in men’s floor artistic gymnastics and the other in men’s vault artistic gymnastics, has now become a worldwide household name. His achievements marked the first time a male athlete from the Philippines won a gold medal.

Yulo is set to receive some remarkable perks, which might come as a surprise to many. He has been offered free consultations and colonoscopies by a gastroenterologist, but there is a condition, he can only redeem this once he turns 45. Currently, he is 24. While it may seem unusual, and even amusing to some, that Olympic gold medals come with such perks, this is not the only reward Yulo is set to receive.

Three-bedroom condo to lifetime free food

After quenching the country’s thirst for gold medals, Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo is set to receive 10 million Philippine pesos from the government. Not only that, but he will also be awarded a three-bedroom condo worth $414,000, unlimited entry to a local buffet, and free food and drinks for life at a restaurant chain.

First male gold medalist from the Philippines

By bagging two gold medals in one Olympic event, Yulo is the first male athlete to win gold for his country. He won the men’s floor event with a score of 15.000 and then the men’s vault event, scoring 15.116 points. The very next day, he became the second Filipino ever to win an Olympic gold medal, following Hidilyn Diaz, who won the 55 kg women weightlifting event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
