FIH Awards 2024, held in Muscat, Oman, celebrated the success of hockey and honoured the ambassadors of the game who have excelled in recent times. For India, it was a moment of pride once again, as Harmanpreet Singh was recognised as the Men’s Player of the Year, following his significant role in leading India to a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. In addition to Harmanpreet, India’s legendary goalkeeper PR Sreejesh was named Goalkeeper of the Year at the FIH Hockey Star Awards 2024 on Friday night.
Harmanpreet’s crucial role as India’s top drag-flicker during the Men in Blue successful Olympic 2024 campaign, where we saw him stamping 10 goals and becoming the tournament top scorer. The award winners were determined through a voting process involving a panel of experts, national associations represented by team captains and coaches, as well as fans and media. Harmanpreet Singh received an impressive 63.84% of the votes, with 13.57% from fans, 15% from the media, 40% from the expert panel, and 15.27% from national associations. This is the reason he was awarded Player of the Year. See the full list of FIH Award 2024 winners.
