The Paris 2024 Olympics have finally come to an end. Manu Bhaker and PR Sreejesh have been chosen as India’s flag bearers for the Closing Ceremony, which is happening in Paris. Before the commencement of the closing ceremony, PR Sreejesh and Manu Bhaker were honoured with their sashes ahead of the event.
PR Sreejesh expressed his excitement, saying, “It’s a great honour, my last tournament, and I got a chance to carry the Indian flag is a fantastic feeling.” Manu Bhaker shared her emotions, saying, “I feel great. Carrying the Indian flag in the closing ceremony is an honour of a lifetime, and I will always cherish this memory.”
Stars to perform at the closing ceremony
The closing ceremony is expected to be more traditional, taking place at France’s national stadium, albeit much shorter in duration. Artistic director Thomas Jolly has hinted that the event will combine “wonder” with elements of “dystopia,” indicating a departure from the joyful and lively tone of the opening ceremony, which was viewed by more than a billion people worldwide.
There are also reports suggesting that renowned Hollywood actor Tom Cruise may participate in a death-defying stunt on the roof of the Stade de France.
Sindhu and Sharath Kamal led the Opening Ceremony
During the Opening Ceremony in Paris, PV Sindhu and Sharath Kamal carried India’s flag in the Parade of Nations, held on the Seine River. Three years ago, at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, wrestler Bajrang Punia had the honour of being India’s flag-bearer for the Closing Ceremony.
