HS Prannoy had to settle for a bronze medal at the Asian Games. The World No.7 was error-prone in the semifinal against Li Shi Feng as he lost the contest in straight games 16-21, 9-21. Nevertheless, the 31-year old has put on a commendable show in the continental event, becoming the first Indian after 41 years to win a medal in Men’s Singles.
He was also not 100% fit as he was battling with aback injury. Despite the loss, Prannoy deservedly received appreciation from the fans on social media for his effort to bag the elusive meal for India.

Prannoy made it to the semifinal after clinching an epic comeback win against Lee Zii Jia in the quarterfinal. He saved two match points and went on to hold his nerves to clinch a terrific comeback win to assure a medal for India on Friday.
However he could hardly replicate such a show in the semifinal. He looked an exhausted man after his quarterfinal win and committed way too many errors against the Chinese to settle for a bronze medal. He has now become only the second Indian Man after Syed Modi to win an individual medal.
