After four Bronze medals, the Indian contingent finally got their hands to the Silver finish, with Neeraj Chopra clinching the honours at Athletics in Javelin throw competition in Paris Olympics. The Indian superstar failed to repeat his Tokyo 2020 heroics but his 89.45m throw was enough to bag him the podium finish. This took India’s medal tally to five!
What did PM Modi have to say about Neeraj Chopra?
The Prime Minister of India, who also recently spoke to the Indian field hockey team after they won the Bronze medal against Spain, took to his Twitter account to congratulate Chopra. He took the moment to applaud Chopra’s success and said, “Neeraj Chopra is excellence personified! Time and again he’s shown his brilliance. India is elated that he comes back with yet another Olympic success. Congratulations to him on winning the Silver. He will continue to motivate countless upcoming athletes to pursue their dreams and make our nation proud.”
While the entire India expected another gold from Chopra, the disappointment on his face after the Silver showed how high the bar he has set for himself! Regardless, the credit should definitely go to Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, who broke the Olympic world record when he hammered a historic 92.97 meter throw to watch himself into the history books.
