Errol Spence Jr. Nationality and Ethnicity: Was Spence Jr. Born In the USA?

Errol Spence Jr. was born on Long Island in New York, USA in 1990. His father Errol and his mother Debra raised him in Long Island. Errol Spence Jr. is of African-American descent but holds Jamaican ancestry through his father. Later, he spent his childhood in Dallas, Texas, where he turned his attention to boxing.

As a teenager, Spence concentrated on boxing as he grew his interest with many college-level competitions. Soon after, he pursued a career in boxing as an amateur, with over 50 bouts in less than 5 years. He went on to win the 2009 Golden Gloves and managed to qualify for the world welterweight championship twice.

In 2012, Errol Spence Jr. represented America at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, where he went on till the quarterfinals. Following his Olympics loss to Russian boxer Andrey Zamkovoy, he made his professional debut in late 2012.

Errol Spence Jr’s Professional Career

Errol Spence Jr. made his professional debut on 9th November 2012. In his debut match, he defeated Jonathan Garcia in a third-round knockout win. This started his dominant run as a professional boxer. Soon, he elevated his boxing skills to knock out the majority of the opponents leaping his ranks.
