Emma Raducanu Injury: Emma Raducanu Australian Open – Former US Open Champion Emma Raducanu suffered another injury while playing a tournament in New Zealand. The British superstar left the court in tears after an ankle injury putting her Australian Open participation in doubt. The British tennis star was involved in the match against Viktoria Kuzmova at the ASB Classic in New Zealand. Emma Raducanu’s Australian Open participation in jeopardy

Raducanu asked the trainer courtside to heavily strap her left ankle in a long injury break. The 20-year-old did try and attempt to carry on with the match but was not able to complete the first point of the third set.

She was forced to retire which left her in tears. The Australian Open 2023 gets underway from January 16 at Melbourne Park and the latest injury comes as a huge setback for the British player.

Raducanu had begun her 2023 season with a victory over teenager Linda Fruhvirtova in her opening match in Auckland before retiring hurt in Round 2. The British star’s career has been hit with injuries as a result of which she has been forced to miss tournaments. Last year she retired from matches four times and the wrist injury further worsened her situation.

A quick glance at what to expect at Australian Open 2023

The first Grand Slam of the year will witness the return of  Novak Djokovic who has been granted a visa to play in the tournament. The Australian Open will be played at Melbourne Park from January 16 with the finals taking place on January 29.

Rafael Nadal will look to defend his men’s singles crown but the women’s section is wide open after Ashleigh Barty retired from tennis last year. The Australian Open total prize pool of $76.5 million, 3.4 percent more than what it was in 2022. The prize money for singles, doubles, and qualifying has also increased by 3.2 percent
