Paris is all geared up to host the summer Olympics which is scheduled to begin from July 26. The city will host athletes from around the globe and has already set up a traditional Olympics village to house the stars. Toeing the eco-friendly line amid Europe’s deliberation over dealing with climate change, the Olympics village in Paris has been designed in an environment-friendly manner.
Eco-friendly village set up for Paris Olympics
Nearly 14250 athletes will be housed in the village whose construction began in 2019. The Village will span parts of three cities: Saint-Denis, Saint Ouen and L’Île-Saint-Denis. The same village will also house nearly 8000 Paralympians in the Games to follow. Here are sone of the eye-catchy specs about the Olympic Village:

- One hotel
- A three-hectare landscaped park
- About seven hectares of gardens and parks
- 120,000 sqm of offices and city services
- 3,200 sqm of neighbourhood shops
What happens to the Village after Olympics?
After the Games, the operators will start repurposing the Village’s residential units in November 2024. They will hand over a new, eco-responsible, functional neighbourhood, which will blend into the city of the future in 2025.
France expecting standout crowd for Paris Olympics opening ceremony
Temporary stadiums have been built at iconic landmarks, while new traffic lanes are causing congestion. The organisers acknowledge the challenges but believe the spectacle will be worth it. The opening ceremony, featuring a parade of athletes down the Seine, is expected to draw up to 500,000 spectators. This will be the first time a Summer Olympics opens outside the main stadium.
