Gennadiy Golovkin Officially Vacates His Middleweight World Titles

The Kazakhstani boxer has held multiple middleweight world championships and is a two-time former unified champion. He held the WBA (Super), WBC, and IBF titles at various points between 2014 and 2023 and challenged once for the undisputed super middleweight championship in 2022. Golovkin is also a two-time former IBO middleweight champion, having held the title twice between 2011 and 2023.

One fan noted that Golovkin beat Canelo Alvarez in their first fight, drew in their second, and lost the third when he was past his prime. Unfortunately, the official record books will show that he lost twice to Canelo, which is a disappointment for his fans. He Said “This dude beat Canelo 1st fight, draw 2nd fight then lost the 3rd when he was too old and past his prime. Sadly the record books will say that he lost twice to Canelo.

Golovkin’s record is a testament to his incredible skill and dedication to the sport, with 42 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw to his name. Of those 42 wins, he has stopped 37 of his opponents, giving him an impressive knockout ratio of 82.2%. He has boxed a total of 240 rounds, meaning his professional fights last an average of 5.3 rounds.

The decision to vacate his titles has left the boxing world speculating about Golovkin’s future in the sport. Some fans believe that he may be retiring, while others speculate that he may be looking to move up to a higher weight class or pursue other opportunities outside the ring.

Regardless of what the future holds for Golovkin, his place in boxing history is secure. Follow InsideSport on GOOGLE NEWS /  For UFC News updates with InsideSport.IN
