Swiatek is yet to lose a set to Gauff in six meetings to date. The Pole advances to her 15th career final, and ninth at WTA 1000 level or above. She improves her undefeated record in WTA 1000 semifinals to 6-0, and extends her active winning streak to six following her successful title defence last week in Doha.
The Pole’s 6-4, 6-2 win is however the first time she has dropped more than two sets in the tournament so far. Gauff also managed to win more games than she has managed in any encounter with Swiatek since their first, where she fell 7-6(3), 6-3 at Rome 2021.

Swiatek asserted her dominance straightaway on Gauff when she broke the American and took a 2-1 lead. The World No.1 maintained her lead and continued to break Gauff for the second time and was looking to close out the set with the scoreline at 5-2. Gauff however fought back and managed to get a break. But it was too late as Swiatek won th set 6-4.
In the second set, she started off by breaking Gauff straightaway. She was going strong at 4-1, but a double fault from her side, helped Gauff clinch a break. But it was the only blips. A stellar pass enabled her to break Gauff again for 5-2 in the second set before serving out the match with ease.
