“Double heartbreak” for fans as Lakshya Sen and skeet mixed team miss medal by a whisker 

Lakshya Sen, Maheshwari Chauhan, and Anantjeet Singh Naruka will leave the Paris Olympics 2024 empty-handed despite coming so close to winning medals.

India had two medals at stake within one hour at the Paris Olympics 2024. Lakshya Sen competed for bronze in badminton, while the skeet mixed team duo, Maheshwari Chauhan and Anantjeet Singh Naruka, aimed for a medal in the bronze medal playoffs. However, it was a double heartbreak as we lost the chance to clinch medal in both.

Lakshya Sen was facing Malaysia’s seventh seed Zii Jia Lee, whom he has a head to head record of 4-1, but, he did not stand in the winning side as lost the game by 21-13, 16-21 and 21-11.

On the other hand, skeet mixed team pair missed the medal by just one shot in the broze medal playoof against Chienes pair China’s Yiting Jiang and Jianlin Lyu. Chauhan-Naruka finishing fourth with a score of 43. The duo was were just one point behind Chinese, who secured the bronze with a score of 44.

Another 4th position finish for India

This was the fourth time in this edition of the Olympics that India missed a medal by a narrow margin. Manu Bhaker missed out on a hat-trick of medals by finishing fourth in the 25m pistol event. Additionally, Maheshwari Chauhan and Anant Jeet narrowly lost their medal by just one point behind their competitors. Lakshya Sen also fell short, unable to defeat the Malaysian shuttler in the bronze medal match.
