Three Indians are in contention to secure the Paris Olympic quote in individual recurve archery. Dhiraj Bommadevara and Tarundeep Rai reached the quarterfinal in Men’s individual event at the Asian Continental Qualifier Tournament on Friday. Ankita Bhakat meanwhile reached the last eight stage in Women’s individual event.
According to a report in PTI, Dhiraj Bommadevara was the top seed in the Men’s individual event at the Asian Continental Qualifier. He defeated Turkmenistan’s Sahedov Ezizmuhammet 6-0, and Singapore’s Li Yue Long 6-0 in the first two rounds to reach the quarterfinal.
Tarundeep Rai meanwhile eliminated Hong Kong’s Chun Kit Wan 6-0 in the first round. Then in the pre quarters he defeated Ruman Shana 6-2 to book spot in the last-eight stage.

In the women’s individual event, Ankita Bhakat was the second seed. She began her campaign by defeating Sonam Dema of Bhutan 6-0. In the pre-quarterfinal, in a close encounter she managed to clinch a 6-5 win against Pia Elizabeth Angela Bidaure.
The Asian Continental qualifier is the penultimate qualification tournament for Paris Olympics. It offers two quotas each (to the finalists) in the men’s and women’s recurve sections.
