Davis Cup: India Tennis team well looked after by Pakistan ahead of mega clash

India taken well care of by Pakistan, India gear up to face arch rivals in Davis Cup clash

The Indian Tennis team has reached Pakistan after a long span of 60 years. After reaching the rival nation, the secretary general of AITA, Anil Dhupar has claimed that he and the team are being take well care of. The two rival nations are slated to play the World Group 1 playoff tie on 3rd and 4th February.

The Indian side landed in Islamabad after their request to host the match in a neutral venue went in vain. The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has ensured adequate security is provided to the Indian team.

“I can say we are all well looked after. Having been here 24 hours, I can say all is well. From the reception at the airport from the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) to the three-hour-long practice the players had today, the hospitality has been great,” Anil Dhupar told The Indian Express.

“Since an Indian team has come to Pakistan after 60 years, we are taking extra precaution. There are four to five layers of security around the Indian team. I, as event security manager, am with them during travel,” Col Gul Rehman, secretary general of the PTF, told PTI.

India wanted to play the match in a neutral venue. But India had no chance to leave the tie. If that had been the case, India would have been relegated World Group 2 stage. “There was no question. We did what we could to get a neutral venue, but since we could not, we are here. All that is behind us now. What matters is the boys are charged up for this one now,” Dhupal concluded.
