Pro Kabaddi League Finals LIVE: Dabang Delhi clinched their first Pro Kabaddi League title, as they defeated three-time champions Patna Pirates 37-36 in the final of Pro Kabaddi League Season 8 on Friday, 25th February. The game was a very close affair with both the teams picking up points one after the other. Delhi trailed until the end of first-half, however they made a terrific comeback to win the game. The game started off on an even note with both the teams picking up points one after the other, however Patna Pirates managed to take a narrow lead and inflicted the first all-out of the match on Dabang Delhi within 11 minutes to take a 12-8 lead. Delhi however jept fighting and ensured they don’t concede a big lead.
By the end of first-half, they managed to reduced the deficit to just two points as the score read 17-15. By the end of first half, Delhi’s Naveen Kumar picked up 7 raid points while Patna’s Sachin picked up 6 raid points. There was a good battle between Naveen Kumar, the star raider of Dabang Delhi and Mohamadreza Shadloui, the best defender of this season. Naveen Kumar targetted the Iranian and managed to keep him out of the mat many times. Mohammadreza Shadloui surprisingly had a slow start in the game as he managed to pick up only one successful tackle out of four attempts in the first-half.
Delhi however made a good comeback as they started putting pressure on Patna. Vijay Malik came to the fore and played a perfect second fiddle to Naveen Kumar as they put pressure on Patna’s defence. Within eight minutes into the second-half, Dabang Delhi managed to reduce the deficit by one point as they trailes 19-20. At this juncture, Guman Singh took two crucial two points to take the score 22-19.
Vijay Malik was the man who brought out the turnaround as he picked up a super raid by taking a bonus point and two men out to reduce the deficit yet again to one point as the score read 24-23. From then on Delhi started to dominate and they took the lead when Naveen Kumar picked up a raid point which also gave him his Super 10. With 10 minutes left in the clock, Delhi finally took the all-out.
At this juncture, Patna made two tactical errors as they broke the revival sequence to give Delhi a tactical point, they also exhausted all their substitution with their raiders Sachin, Guman Singh, Prashant Kumar Rai and Monu Goyat out of the mat. Patna though gave Delhi a scare in the dying minutes, however Delhi were in no position to give up their lead as they won their maiden title.
