Interestingly, Neeraj had the best fourth throw in the qualification while Peters was third. In the medal round, Neeraj eased past all competitors to win gold in Australia with a throw of 86.47.
So many things have changed in the last four years. Besides Neeraj adding Olympic gold to his medal kitty, all the top throwers have made it a habit to throw 88 plus quite easily. Neeraj has registered a best throw of 89.94m last month, which is his personal best while Peters has been the standout performer, throwing the spear above 90m with ridiculous ease.

However, Neeraj has defeated Peters twice this year, which can motivate the Indian thrower at the quadrennial games. He beat him at Turku and Kuortane earlier this month.
