Born on the outskirts of the coastal city of Mangalore, Gururaj Poojary braved humble beginnings to script history for his nation winning the bronze medal on Saturday. The soon-to-be 30-year-old managed to lift 118kg in snatch before lifting 151 kg in clean and jerk to finish 3rd in the Men’s 61 kg category.
