Citi Open 2023: Schedule, Top Seeds, Draws, Check All you need to know

The warm-up events ahead of the US Open is all set to get underway with the Citi Open. The ATP 500 and WTA 250 event will kick-start in Washington on Monday 31st July 2023. Check all you need to know.

Citi Open 2023: The warm-up events ahead of the US Open is all set to get underway with the Citi Open. The ATP 500 and WTA 250 event will kick-start in Washington on Monday 31st July 2023. Americans Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe are the top two seeds in the Men’s Singles. Felix Auger Aliassime, Hubert Hurkacz and Grigor Dimitorv will also be the other top players in the ATP 500 tournament. Jessica Pegula and Carline Garcia meanwhile will headline action in Women’s Singles.

Taylor Fritz and Andy Murray in first quarter

Taylor Fritz leads the American challenge in the tournament. He is the top seed and will begin his campaign from the second round. He is set to begin his campaign by facing the winner between a qualifier or Maxime Purcell in the second round.

Three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray will be the 15th seed in the tournament. He is also placed in the first quarter of the tournament. The Briton will face either Aleksandar Vukic or Brandon Nakashima in the second round.

Seventh seed Adrian Mannarino is also part of this quarter. The Frenchman will face either wildcard entrant Kevin Anderson or Jordan Thompson in the second round. Another American in 11th seed Christoper Eubanks will also headline action in the quarter. Eubanks, who made it until the quarterfinal at the Wimbledon last month has received a bye to the second round. He is set to face either Lloyd Harris or Kei Nishikori.

Hubert Hurkacz leads second quarter

Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz will be the top seed in the second quarter of the draws. The Pole will begin his campaign from the second round. USA’s Michael Mmoh is likely to be his opponent in the second round. Mmoh will face a qualifier in the first round.

Sixth seed Alexander Bublik also received a bye to the second round. The Kazakh is expected to face Gael Monfils in the first round of the tournament. Monfils received a wildcard entry will be entering the tournament after bowing out from the first round at the Atlanta Open.

12th seed Tallon Griekspoor and 16th seed JJ World are also the seeded players in this quarter. Griekspoor is set to face either Corentin Moutet or Liam Broady in the second round. While the winner between Radu Albot and Marcos Giron will face Wolf in the second round.

Felix Auger Aliassime and Grigor Dimitrov lead third quarter

Third seed Felix Auger Aliassime and fifth seed Grigor Dimitrov will lead the third quarter of the draw. Both the players will begin action in the second round. 10th seed Yoshihito Nishioka and 13th seed Ugo Humbert are also the other seeded players in the quarter.

Aliassime is set to begin his campaign against either Japan’s Yosuke Watanuki or China’s Wu Yibing. Meanwhile the winner between Mackenzie McDonald and Diego Schwatzman will face Dimitrov in the second round.

Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis is also present in the quarter. He will face Japan’s Taro Daniel in the opening round. If he advances to the second round, he will set up clash against Ugo Humbert. Yoshihito Nishioka will face either Emil Ruusuvuori or Charles Lestienne in the second round.

Frances Tiafoe and Sebastian Korda headline final quarter

Americans Frances Tiafoe and Sebastian Korda will be leading the final quarter of the draw. Tiafoe is the second seed and he is likely to begin hios campaign by facing Aslan Karatsev in the second round.

Sebastian Korda meanwhile is the eighth seed. He has also received a bye to the second round. His opponent will be either compatriot Maxime Cressy or Alexander Shevchenko.

Ninth seed Dan Evans and 14th seed Ben Shelton are also in the quarter. Evans might meet unseeded Gregoire Barrere in the second round. Shelton meanwhile is likely to face Emilio Gomez.
