The 85th Senior National Badminton Championships 2023, witnessed intense competition and thrilling showdowns among the nation’s top badminton talents. The tournament showcased remarkable performances in the men’s and women’s singles categories, marked by standout players like Chirag Sen, Virender Singh Yadav, Tanvi Sharma, and Anmol Kharb.

Chirag Sen headlines Senior National Badminton Championships 2023 semifinals:

Chirag Sen showcased his prowess in a thrilling semi-final clash against second-seeded Kiran George. The 2020 Iran international bronze medallist secured a hard-fought victory with scores of 21-18, 21-18 in a 38-minute encounter, earning a well-deserved spot in the men’s singles final. Chirag Sen faced fourth-seeded Tharun M in the final and emerged victorious, defeating Bharat Raghav 21-11, 16-21, 21-19 in a closely contested match.

In the women’s singles category, there were surprises as Tanvi Sharma overcame eighth-seeded Isharani Baruah with a scoreline of 21-15, 20-22, 21-14, while Anmol Kharb caused an upset by defeating second-seeded local favourite Ashmita Chaliha with scores of 21-17, 21-19. Tanvi Sharma’s resilient performance earned her a spot in the final against Anmol.

The mixed doubles final featured the victorious duo of the 2023 Yonex Sunrise Odisha Masters, Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto, who secured their place with a comfortable 21-11, 21-13 win over Deep Rambhiya and Akshaya Warang. They faced Nitin Kumar and Navdha Manglam, who battled to a hard-fought victory over H.V. Nithin and Maneesha K. with scores of 10-21, 21-18, 21-19.

In the women’s doubles category, the Maharashtrian pair of Ritika Thaker and Simran Singhi booked their spot in the final by defeating P. Amrutha and Pranjal Prabhu Chimulkar with scores of 21-11, 21-11. They faced the third-seeded pair of Priya Devi Konjengbam and Shruti Mishra, who secured a 21-13, 21-11 victory over Mrunmayee Deshpande and Prerana Alvekar.
