Chinese Taipei LOST TO Korea – 1-3

Thailand LOST TO Japan2-3

Chinese Taipei v Korea

After losing against Malaysia in their last group encounter, Chinese Taipei aim to bounce back in the quarterfinals. They face a tough opponents in Korea. Chinese Taipei finished second in Group C behind Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Korea topped Group D with three wins from as many games in the league stage. They defeated France and England 4-1 in their first two matches. They then went on to seal a 5-0 victory against Japan.

Chou Tien Chen enter as favourite in the Men’s Singles as he is set to face World No.55 Jeon Hyeok-jin. Chen will enter the contest after facing a defeat against Lee Zii Jia in his previous game. Jeo Hyeok-Jin meanwhile is unbeaten after playing two matches so far.

The most awaited clash on the day will be between World No.2 An Se-young of Korea and Chinese Taipei’s World No.3 Tai Tzu Ying. In the head-to-head record between both the players, An Se-young leads 4-2.

Thailand vs Japan

Thailand finished at the top of Group B with three successive wins. They are set to take on Japan for a spot in the semifinals. Japan enter the contest after suffering a 0-5 defeat against South Korea.

Japan gave opportunity to all their three Men’s Singles players in the group stages. World No.6 Kodai Naraoka is expected to play in the quarterfinal. He he set to face Kunlavut Vitidsarn. Naraoka faced France’s Alex Lanier in his only game of the tournament and clinched a straight set win.

World No.9 Vitidsarn meanwhile enter the contest after clinching a win against Indonesia’s World No.2 Jonatan Christie. Naraoka leads the head-to-head record 3-2 against Vitidsarn.

In the Women’s Singles, World No. 1 Akane Yamaguchi is expected to face Ratchanok Intanon. Yamaguchi is coming off after a defeat against An Se-young. Meanwhile Intanon played only a solitary game in the tournament where she defeated Brian Yang of Canada.

Japan has a strong doubles squad. They have World No.2 Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida and Arisa Higashino and Yuta Watanabe in Women’s and Mixed Doubles. and look to trounce their opponents.

China vs Indonesia

China and Indonesia will set up a blockbuster evening clash on the day. While the hosts China are unbeaten in the tournament. Indonesia enter the contest going down against Thailand.

In the Men’s Singles, Jonathan Christie suffered a loss against Kunlavut Vitidsarn and Anthony Ginting might be given a go. He is expected to face Lu Guangzhu, who is ranked World No.10.

Chin will enter as favourites in the Women’s Singles. World No.4 Chen Yufei will take on Gregoria Tunjung. All eyes will be on Men’s Doubles as World No.1 Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Ardianto are set to clash against China’s World No.5 duo Liu Yuchen and Ou Xuanyi. The Chinese duo lead the head-to-head record against the Indonesians 3-2. In the Women’s and Mixed Doubles, China will be the favourites.

Denmark vs Malaysia

Denmark will face a tough challenge against an unbeaten Malaysia in the quarterfinal. The most awaited tie in the clash between both the nations in the Men’s Singles. World No.1 Viktor Axelsen, who missed the last two games is set to return to action. He will be facing Lee Zii Jia. Axelsen has a 5-2 head-to-head record against the World No.8 Malaysian.

In the Women’s Singles, Mia Blichfeldt orLine Christophersen will be pitted against Goh Jin Wei, who defeated PV Sindhu earlier in the tournament. In the Men’s Doubles, World No.3 Malaysians Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik will take on World No.7 pair Kim Astrup and Anders Rasmussen.

In both the Women’s and Mixed Doubles, Malaysia will be the overwhelming favourites. Malaysia have players within the Top 10, while Denmark’s duo in both the ties are outside the Top 15 in the world rankings.
