China dominates women’s boxing at Paris Olympics, five medals already confirmed as Indian boxers exit early

The women’s boxing competition at the Paris Olympics features six categories, in which Chinese players have secured medals in five events. Meanwhile, one Chinese player still has to compete in the quarter-finals to confirm a medal.

China is called one of the best nations to take part in the Olympics for a reason. Recently, India’s challenge for a medal in boxing at the mega event ended with Lovlina Borgohain’s defeat against China’s Li Qian. With this, China also confirmed one more medal at the Paris Olympics.

In boxing, both losing semi-finalists receive a bronze medal. The winners from each semi-final face off in the gold medal match, while the loser of the final receives a silver medal.

This is a historic feat for China because, in all six categories, Chinese players have secured at least one medal in five, whereas Indian boxers have not achieved even one.
