The Mexican generally engages in two fights a year, the first of which occurred on “Cinco de Mayo” in May and the second of which will take place on September 16 in honour of Mexican Independence Day.

PPV Service and More Info Revealed For The Confirmed Fight Of Canelo Alvarez vs Jermall Charlo 

Canelo had been in negotiations to select an opponent for September after defeating tenacious British fighter John Ryder in his Mexican homecoming earlier this year by majority decision.

The two front-runners were WBC middleweight world champion Jermall Charlo and WBC cruiserweight world champion Badou Jack.

Finoboxing in his Instagram account has shared the news on his social media handle, which states that the match between Canelo vs Charlo has finally been confirmed for the 16th of September. He captioned the post, “Canelo vs Charlo fight is officially set for Saturday, September 16th live on Showtime PPV. Location to be determined due to venues in Las Vegas & Dallas are already booked.”

Charlo last competed in May 2021, winning a majority decision over Juan Macias Montiel. If the two fighters collide, though, Charlo is likely to move up to super middleweight to take on Canelo for the undisputed 168-pound belts. Fans may be upset by this revelation, though, as Canelo would have been more likely to draw interest in a rematch with Dmitry Bivol or against David Benavidez.
