With a thrilling victory over world No. 4 Danish Anders Antonsen, promising Indian badminton player Priyanshu Rajawat’s incredible run at the Canada Open has carried him to the semifinals. Ranked number 39 in the world, Rajawat fought hard against Antonsen and ultimately prevailed 21-11, 17-21, 21-19 in a close bout that lasted one hour and nineteen minutes.

With his victory over Antonsen, the 22-year-old Rajawat achieved his first-ever victory over a player ranked in the top 10. In the semifinals, he will take on Frenchman Alex Lanier. Rajawat will be participating in his second World Tour Super 500 semifinal.

Sadly, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand’s women’s doubles team suffered a loss in their quarterfinal match. The third-seeded Indian team lost to Chinese Taipei’s Pei Shan Hsieh and En-Tzu Hung 18-21, 21-19, 16-21.
