Anshu Malik's hopes of winning a bronze medal in the 57 kg category at the Paris Olympics remain alive if her opponent reaches the final.

Anshu Malik faced defeat in her first bout against USA’s Helen Louise Maroulis, losing 2-7 in the 57kg pre-quarterfinals in Paris Olympics. However, she still has a chance to win a bronze medal as her opponent, Maroulis, has reached the semi-finals of the event. If Maroulis advances to the final of the 57 kg freestyle category, Anshu Malik will compete in the repechage for a shot at third place.

Anshu Malik can still win bronze medal

Anshu Malik could compete for the bronze medal if her opponent, who defeated her in the Round of 16, reaches the final in their respective weight category, allowing Anshu to enter the repechage rounds.

What is repechage in wrestling?

Wrestlers who advance to the final send their defeated opponents to the repechage round, giving them a chance to compete for the bronze medal.
