BWF World Championships – India enjoyed a productive day in Madrid on Tuesday as the likes of PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth progressed further with wins. Sindhu clinched a straight-sets win, while Sen and Srikanth had to battle in three sets to move ahead in the competition. Men’s doubles pair Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy also progressed, while mixed doubles duo Sourabh Sharma and Anoushka Parikh were knocked out. After a lucky start due to COvid-19 related postponements and cancellations, Team India ace Laksys Sen will begin his campaign on Tuesday. Sen is one of India’s brightest talents and so far has been brilliant in his debut championship this year. The two players have never competed against each other in a weak imagine draw Oriya.

Game 2: Kidambi Srikanth forces a decider, wins do-or-die game 2 21-18.

Game 1: Srikanth faces a tricky start, goes down 21-15 in the opening game.

Kidambi Srikanth, one of the few seeded players, will hope to build on his epic win. Srikanth will face Li Shi Feng but will be very much against a stranger in action, having not the 21st Test century in the waiting. Srikanth won his opening round 21-12, 21-16 win over Pablo Abian.

Reigning world champion PV Sindhu started the defence of her title with straight games victory over Martina Repiska on Tuesday at the ongoing BWF World Championships 2021 in Huelva. Two-time Olympic medallist Indian defeated shuttler from Slovakia by 21-7, 21-9 in just 24 minutes. Sindhu faced very little resistance from Repiska as she moved into the round of 16.

Game 2: Chirag-Sawik progress with a straightforward 21-17 win in Game 2.

Game 1: In another close tie, Chirag-Satwik prevail to take the first game 27-25

Earlier in the men’s doubles, India’s Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy sweat hard against Chinese Taipei’s Lee Jhe-Huei and Yang Po-Hsuan.
The eight seeded-Indians, dropped five-game points in the first game as Lee/Yang stretched the pair of Shetty-Rankireddy to their limit. But Indians persevered to win 27-25. In the second game, Chirag and Satwik shifted their gears and dished out better performance to prevail 21-17.
